"The Wall St. Journal, a private, for-profit enterprise, published this call for the government take-over of newspapers and broadcasters. Does anyone think that state-controlled media would publish a call for their privatization?"

Wonderful article.

The Wall Street Journal publishing this is a great example of people supporting their own destroyers.

Mr. Mchesney's arguments for a subsidized press (we assume only for the left since the right is not in trouble) are cobbled together straw men and red herrings. His argument is actually worth showing to demonstrate how far journalism has fallen.

The fact is that reporting by private citizen specialists provides better coverage on most subjects without the agendas and lack of fact, and that is what is killing journalism.

Plus their content model is killing them because of their lack of understanding of competitive advantage and technology. I believe I could make money with their websites within 3 months, even with the terrible content.

We already have think tanks who are far more scholarly for in-depth reporting on any given large topic.

Let them go bankrupt if they can't figure it out. The market is full and overflowing.

Thanks for the great article Mr. Binswager.
